| Description |
The Department of Psychology at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, announces an open call for tenure-track appointments (open rank; per qualifications and experience) in developmental psychology, social psychology, and cognitive psychology/cognitive neuroscience. The appointments are subject to budgetary and professional approvals. Applications will continue to be accepted until the positions are filled. The starting date is negotiable.
With approximately 20,000 students, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev provides significant resources and a strong foundation to support all faculty members’ research programs. The Psychology Department is committed to excellence in research and teaching. The department includes 23 faculty members specializing in developmental, brain and cognition, clinical, and social psychology, and has strong ties with the School of Brain Sciences and Cognition at BGU. Interdisciplinary collaboration with other faculty members is both common and encouraged. Responsibilities of faculty members include maintaining an active and successful program of research, supervising graduate students (M.A. and Ph.D.) in their research projects, and teaching both undergraduate and graduate classes. |
| Basic Qualifications |
Candidates are expected to hold a PhD and typically have gone through post-doctoral training in relevant fields. We seek candidates with strong evidence of excellence in research, showing an excellent track record for their career stage, as evident by previous high-quality contributions to their field. In addition, for the developmental psychology position, we are seeking an applicant with clinical training/experience, consistent with the scientist-practitioner model (i.e., researchers with experience in therapy and evaluation). Licensed or license-eligible developmental psychologists are preferred, but clinical psychologists who primarily work with children are also welcome to apply.
*Minimum Number of References Required : • For the rank of Lecturer: 3-4 References, at least 2 "independent" and at least 2 from institutions abroad. • For the rank of Senior Lecturer: 4-5 References, at least 2 "independent" and at least 2 from institutions abroad. • For the rank of Professor: 5-6 References, at least 4 "independent" and at least 3 from institutions abroad. Note: One of the letters should be from the the candidate's supervisor (Ph.D., M.Sc. , Post Doc)
